I used to basically write exclusively short things (generally under 500 words, pretty much exclusively under 1000), both original and fanfic, and usually for prompt tables or requests of some kind. Then I lost the habit of actually committing words... pretty much entirely for a bit there.

My brain got really ambitious while it lapsed. I think I need to teach it to slow down again.

... All of which is to say I see nothing wrong with it either, I just tend to hold different standards for myself than anyone else.
