Things that have taken root in my brain tonight and I still don't know why:

MCU college AU, where hard-of-hearing!Clint and child-of-Deaf-adult!Natasha who have been best friends for years take Deaf Culture as a blow-off class and meet tiny, angry hard-of-hearing!Steve who has spent so long demanding that his disability(/ies, probably) should make no difference to anyone that he's just now finally dipping his toe into learning ASL and learning about Deaf culture.

I cannot decide if I am actually writing this or not but I'm entertaining myself on and off by playing it out in my head. It makes me smile.

I am intrigued by this proposition and would read it if you wrote it. Though I understand completely about sometimes just wanting a thing to entertain you in odd moments.

I am trying to break myself of the habit/desire to hit up some kind of contact point repeatedly throughout the day? Because I am really bad about spreading it out along various avenues, so if I let myself, I would end up either spamming Tumblr, Plurk, Dreamwidth, or Bast's texts, depending on what I manage to hit first that day. And getting nothing else done, not even by the bare definition of "reading fic on lunch/breaks" that I am trying to count as doing things because hey, it's reading.

I blame the sudden desire to relearn ASL and the need to have something to do all night, but yeah. The idea is rooted and starting to form full on sentences and scenes, so I may see if I can find my way to getting something down sometime soon. ... Probably not til after inventory, because ugh, the next two nights are going to be long ones, but still.

First off, I am totally good getting spammed, I'm just saying. Spam is exciting.

Second, oh I want this. I want this kind of badly and I will help you get the thing if you want. I have no idea how I will help with the thing but I will and I want and yes.

Also, I am kind of amused because in this situation, I was raised to be Steve but with vision. and that kind of amuses me.

I am definitely doing the thing, god help me. I am not only writing the thing in my head, I am writing an elaborate side story as well as the thing in my head, so god help me, it is gonna happen eventually.

(Darcy/Jane/Thor, with demisexual!Darcy, and autistic!Jane, who is also in their Deaf culture class/Clint and Tasha's general circle of ASL-speaking people, because signing is easier than words some days. Darcy and Jane are best friends and... something between friends with benefits and girlfriends on occassion, fuck labels. Jane happens to like big, tall, muscley guys too, because pressure! *flailyhands* Enter Thor.)

(Also tell me this does not need to end in Clint/Natasha/Steve/Bucky polyfamily if not outright foursome. Because I don't need to write that college AU before I finish the polybigbang dammit. :|)

This is true. I am bad at not feeling awkward talking at people but. Yeah.

This is so, so true but it's never in fic. In pre-serum fic they never really bring up the hard-of-hearing bit and even the angry bit tends to be seriously downplayed. And in modern AUs? Well, half of them are "and he was a scrawny kid but then he grew up nice" which is apparently our MCU AU version of "Hermione had filled out over the summer". Of the half that involve tiny, scrawny Steve, only half have him angry, or sick when it isn't mild and cute and convenient for H/C fluff, and there's less than 20 things tagged with Deaf or HoH Steve on Ao3, which is not a perfect measure, but STILL SAYS SOMETHING.

... Wow, that was a rant. Hi. I've been marathon reading modern MCU AUs on my phone, cause I don't have the head to read book and screw it, it's decent breaktime/lunchtime distraction. But this kind of annoys me. I'm so sorry. XD
