balsamandash: (let me under your wing smoker angel)
I really need to get my obsession with this song to go away. Especially while I do not actually have it.

Things that make tonight slightly better than yeterday:
-Doing something writing-related in a notebook, even if it's not writing
-Finding enough brain to do some reading
-Splurging on McDonalds
-Relatedly, discovering I like MDs pumpkin pie, who knew? Also, coupons for free fries. Three of them. I am pleased.
-Not having to take more than a couple of phone calls
-Really damn good chocolate (I may have a new favorite manager. He is a sweet goofball and also, he gave us really good chocolate.)

I still kind of want to cry, but that's how life mostly goes, so you know.

Tomorrow, I write. Not a lot, but for two hours before work, either at MDs or, if I end up taking a cab, at home. I'm hoping I can get this scene for polybigbang out of my head, at least, if nothing else.

Monday, I call about phones, I go to my family, I hopefully get a haircut, I probably get stuck decorating for a holiday I don't really get to do this year, I write. Tuesday, I talk to my mother or else somebody should come hit me until I do.
balsamandash: (my blood; your blood; our blood)
I'm seeing trick-or-treat posts and Halloween-themed fiction going up, considering the time of year. And don't get me wrong -- I think that is absolutely fantastic and I love Halloween. But I celebrate two holidays on that day; and this year, I'm not really celebrating either of them the way I usually do. So I thought maybe I'd try something new; it's the right time of year for that, too.

Samhain is a lot of things: the Witches' New Year, when the Wheel of the Year turns around; one of the two nights the veils between the worlds are thinnest; Ancestor's Night, when we honor the dead; the last harvest festival; the end of autumn, the beginning of winter. Therefore, even with some narrowing down, there's a lot of themes available to work with. I don't promise to write all of these by October 31st, and definitely not on that night, since I'm working, but hopefully it won't take too long past it. Witches and witchcraft, both real and fantasy, may or may not show up in any or all of the things written.

(If this works out, I may try and do this for all the Sabbats this year, but let me not get ahead of myself.)

How the prompt call works: You leave as many prompts as you want on any of the themes below; feel free to combine as many of them into a prompt as you'd like. I will try and write a snippet of at least one prompt per person.

This is a non-monetary prompt call; whatever I write, I'll post. Signal boosts would be welcome, but basically it's a free-for-all. I'm more interested in trying to get myself writing and seeing if this makes me feel better about not honoring my holidays properly lately, and not entirely comfortable asking for money for it yet. If this does become a regular thing, we'll see, but this one's wide-open.

Themes: Endings and beginnings; honoring the dead; preparing for hardships; facing the darkness; divination.
