1. The first year of college is a big blur of studying, work, more studying, Teddy, and the alternating joy and nervousness about being away from the safety net of his mom. By the end of the second month, Dave would have to sleep for a week to make up for all the hours he's lost. After finals that first semester, he actually does spend a week doing more or less nothing but bed and work. But at that point, Teddy's tired enough to spend almost as much time in bed as Dave does, if not actually sleeping, so he doesn't question the sudden crash.

2. You wake up.
It's 2013; you've slept through the start of another new year and you're finally beginning to believe this is real.

3. "So don't give orders." There's something sharp in Natasha's voice now, and that shuts him up, gets him to stop and really listen to him. "That's not going to do much good in the long run as it is. The problem wasn't bad orders. Those didn't help, but that's not what's wrong. What is wrong? We can't fix. You -- any of us -- can only help. And you can be a crutch, for now. If you're not going to be able to do that, then you need to stop this now, because crutches are the only help he's going to be able to understand or take for a while. Everything else isn't going to be easy, and if you try to force it to start now, it might never happen at all."

1. He waits until James is in the other room, curled up in what's become his spot on the couch while Clint cooks -- it's only the second day he's been willing to go sit in another room while Clint is up and doing something; that probably means something, but hell if he knows what. no idea. dont want 2 ask him. kinda skttsh. dont wanna scare him away. He sends the message, then adds, hows the search? find tall dark and deadly yet?, because Natasha will keep from giving away any details out of habit if he doesn't directly ask.

2. "David," she says instead. It's gentle, but that does nothing to stop his heart from dropping. "If you could promise I'd be a real part of this relationship, if you could tell me we'd be like any other couple waiting for their fourth, I'd say yes in a heartbeat. But you can't, can you? You've been two and waiting for too long. And I love you both, but I won't do that to myself."

3."I didn’t think ‘unorthodox’ meant ‘stupid’," he shoots at Fury, arms folded over his chest. "What part of an active Prince and a possibly-Active Sleeping Beauty in the field together sounds like a good idea to you? Do you want an Evil Fairy showing up?" Because I don’t want to go back under, Steve cuts himself off from saying. I don’t want to lose another seventy years. Who knows if I’ll survive it this time?
