No idea. Its hurting around the thumb and the wrist under it but I have no idea why

It sounds like you overworked or possibly sprained the poor thumb. Ice and rest will probably be all you need if the case. But, perhaps you can get a brace so it doesn't happen again? Because ow.

yeah, i'm working on aquiring a brace tomorrow.resting it last night helped, then i slept and woke up in pain. i don't even know.
