In other, lighter news:
> If you haven't seen it yet,
thatyourefuse is hosting an old-fashioned commentfic prompt meme. Come drop prompts and answer prompts and prove that these things still work so maybe more can happen, cause I don't know about anyone else, but I've missed these things and would like themed ones back.
> I may hop in on OC October belatedly. Not sure if I'd try to do one a day for the rest of October, one a day for 31 days, try to make up for the week I'm missing, or what, but it seems like it could be fun. ...If you happen to know any OCs of mine you'd like to see me talk about, feel free to throw names at me.
> So here's the thing: I'm not super versed in it but I love tabletop. And the game I had kind of fell apart for various time and energy and distance related reasons. But I've been missing tabletop and I've been missing it badly. Is there anyone who might be interested in starting a regular game on roll20.net?
Some specifics: I'm, as said, not the most experienced player, but I'm still happy to GM if you're willing to put up with me? (Fair warning, I tend more toward RP-choice-and-puzzle heavy RPG than combat-heavy when I plot things.) I'm also happy to hand the reins to someone else if somebody's dying to do it, though. I probably have two people willing to play already, even if I need to check with one of them, so I don't need more than a couple of people to make this a viable possibility.
System and genres: I'm familiar with AD&D 2nd Edition and I own AMP: Year One, which is a pretty simple RP system with some interesting plot hooks; but I'm more than willing to consider looking into other game systems, too, in various genres, whether anyone's familiar with them or not.
Timing and logistics: I lean towards text-only just because internet and computer software don't always love me, but would be willing to give voice and/or video a shot and see if my computer would let me. I work from home so day of the week/time is pretty flexible; I need to not be super loud when roommate is sleeping, if there's voice, but that's about it. I probably wouldn't start til November, because I've got editing projects to finish this month and then con + holiday at the end of the month, but if we get people together we can work on choosing a system and building characters before that so a plot can be got together.
So yeah, if you're interested, poke me, and maybe something can be worked out. I'm a little nervous putting it out there because I've literally only ever played with/GMed for my family and my oldest friends + partner, but I miss it a lot and I don't seem to be getting my old game back, so I'm kind of hoping I can get something going.
Edit to add: Okay, I definitely have [dear friend who is not on my DW] and me, and maybe/probably
thebonesofferalletters, but regular gaming may not get underway til very late November/early December for RL reasons. Planning and characters can definitely be met up for earlier than that, though.

Date: 2016-10-07 02:55 pm (UTC)It seems like text might be the best thing for everybody, the more comes out about it. My only problem with this has a lot less to do with gameplay than setup; sometimes it's easier for me to describe things via voice than via text, so if no one minds, there might be sections where I switch on voice, set the scene, and then switch to chat for the rest of the section. But we'll see; maybe I can prewrite enough description that I don't have to. (And I understand; I hate my voice any time I hear a recording of it myself.)
other than that, this week is kind of scattered, but I'll poke people for emails and try to gather things to figure out what we're going to play sometime this month, so planning and characters can start. :D

I look forward to being poked. :D

Date: 2016-10-14 06:38 pm (UTC)My email is darkofthestory@gmail.com - if you can email me with, at the very least, you DW (so I know who you are) and the name you don't mind being called in front of gamemates, I would appreciate it greatly.
I would also really appreciate the following information, so I can best figure out a game system/game ideas that will be enjoyable for everyone:
> Any preferences you have for days and times, and for how often to play (monthly, weekly, every other week, whatever).
> Any systems you've played before that you really don't want to play again (you can mention ones you liked too if you like, but I particularly don't want to stick anyone playing something they already hate)
> Genres you enjoy (examples: if you have a serious preference for urban fantasy over high fantasy, or you can't do anything even slightly horror-themed; also, if you have RPG experience and know you prefer, say, dungeon-crawling over puzzles, or vice versa, or can't stand political plots, let me know that.)
> Triggers, squicks, and things you'd prefer to avoid, preferably labelled by which is which
(On the last one, I promise I won't ask for explanations and I won't show anybody else, but it would help me a lot, especially to get a list of triggers. I will outright avoid all trigger for anyone playing, but I obviously need to know them first. And in general, squicks and general avoidances/things you rarely enjoy can help me design a more enjoyable plot.)
...This feels like a lot to ask, but the more I know about what everyone wants, the better a shot I have at finding a system and a plan that everyone will enjoy.
